Abia Young Women Assembly, an advocacy and intervention group has asked one of their fearless matron’s, a Nollywood practitioner, entrepreneur and woman rights crusader, Doris Ogala to boldly step out as the first woman to declare interest to contest for the position of the Governor of Abia State come 2023 general elections.
The group maintained that, women has been sidelined in the scheme of leadership in Nigeria and believes that the 2023 general elections provides another great opportunity for women to make a bold statement that women has the capacity and intelligence to manage the rich economy of our dear nation.
In her words, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is a typical example of what women can do, today, there are more than 500 women in Nigeria as good as the Director General, World Trade Organization.
The group agued that, looking at the creativity, boldness, productivity, pedigree and antecedents of Doris Ogala, one can boldly say, that she has the credentials to lead as the number one citizen of Abia State.
Speaking to Exact Media in Umuahia during a brainstorming session for the hosting of the first ever Creative Women Summit to celebrate the 2022 edition’s International Women’s Day in Abia State, the state coordinator, Gracedorcas Onyakachi said various activities has been lined up to make the International Women’s Day celebration a memorable event.
She said the summit focuses on educating and inspiring the girl child and women to use their God given creativity to add value to womanhood by contributing towards gender equality, self-reliance and women empowerment through community and global partnerships. She said the event flow shall be unveiled soon at the presentation of the Official Brochure of the Creative Women Summit 2022.
