Family feud: Davido trade words with Cousin over Osun Governorship race

Nigerian singer, Davido Adeleke, and his cousin, Bamidele Adeleke, have been trading words on Twitter as the crisis rocking their family over the forthcoming Governorship election in Osun state escalates.

The pair fell out after Bamidele declared his interest to run for the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Bamidele’s interest for Osun state’s highest office had rankled the singer, popularly known as Davido, who is supporting his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, who is a former senator.

The former senator had contested the 2018 governorship election but lost to Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a controversial manner.

On Tuesday, Davido had called out Bamidele for challenging his uncle for the governorship ticket of the PDP despite being from the same family.
The drama, however, took a new twist on Wednesday after Davido accused his cousin of writing about the death of his late mother, Veronica, in an article relating to his governorship ambition.
“Because of your ambition, you have your people write about me (which I don’t care about) but to include the death of my mother in an article; the same woman that raised you. Ok Dele, God will reward you,” he wrote.
“The truth hurt you that much you had to go that low to mention your Aunty Vero that cared for you. Well, I don open my crase for the year…”
The singer said he would not condone any form of disrespect directed at his father and late mother from his cousin.

He also threatened to “stress” the politician while saying “we go meet for field.”

“Worst of all this (Dele) really doing all this from the house my father gave you! Audacity! Disrespect me! (I don’t care) but my father, my mother never! Dele, I will stress you! We go meet for field,” he added.
But reacting in a Twitter thread, Bamidele denied writing anything about the demise of Davido’s mother.

“For whatever this is worth to you, please note that I lost my mother at a tender age like you and would never allow anyone to denigrate her nor her memory. I will never write nor say anything against my Auntie Vero, who I cherish dearly,” he replied.

The politician also said he has nothing against Davido for supporting his uncle in the forthcoming election.

“I respect your decision and choice to support Uncle Demola and that is the beauty of democracy. It is possible we can all make our individual choices without rancour and bitterness. We can all follow different paths and still live as one big, happy family,” he added.
