Rachel Oniga, veteran Nollywood actress is dead

Veteran Nollywood actress, Rachel Oniga has died at age of 64.

TMZNaija gathered that the movie star who has featured in hundreds of movies passed on at the early hours of Saturday, July 31.

Though the details about her death is still sketchy, there was not reports of the actress being sick.

According to reports, she had only a few days ago, still shot some scenes in a movie in Mowe Ogun state, before her demise.

Originally from Eku, Delta State, Rachel Oniga was born on 23 May 1957 in Ebutte Metta, Lagos State.

She began her acting career in 1993 after working briefly at Ascoline Nigeria Limited, a Dutch Consultant Company.

She made her Nollywood debut in ‘Onome’, before starring in in her first Yoruba movie, "Owo Blow."

Her colleagues and other Nigerians have taken to social media to pen tributes to the actress as the news of her demise continues to spread.

Oniga went on to establish herself as a household name in the Nigerian movie industry, featuring in several hit movies including ‘Sango’.

She also gained prominence for her role in ‘Super Story’, a popular TV series by Wale Adenuga.
