Two "Buhari Must Go" protesters jailed in Kogi after being flogged in public (VIDEO)

Two youths, Anene Victor, and Emmanuel Larry, have been detained since Monday for protesting against President Muhammadu Buhari in Kogi state.

In a now-viral video, the duo, who were holding “Buhari must go” posters, were seen being flogged by youths for their demonstration.

Buhari must go” was also written on the wall behind them.
Kingsley Fanwo, the state commissioner for information, had in a statement said the “anti-Buhari campaigners” may be prosecuted for violating the state’s environmental laws.

The commissioner alleged that they assembled in Benue with posters that were printed “in a south-south state” before coming into Kogi.

“The Kogi government has commended some youths for putting a stop to an alleged campaign against President Muhammadu Buhari in the state,” he said.

“We are placing it on record that the fanatical following of Mr President by Kogi people is borne out of our faith in his integrity and quality leadership. Kogi is PMB and PMB is Kogi.

“The Kogi state government hereby sounds a note of warning to all agents of destabilisation to steer clear of our state in their bid to play divisive, destructive, destabilising and debilitating politics. Kogi is focused on development and commitment to improving the living standards of the people.

“For us, President Muhammadu Buhari is more than a national leader. He represents an ideology that protects the poor and the weak, an ideology of transparency and accountability, an ideology of security and stability. These are the unfailing strings that bind us with Mr President.”

He had said the youths who apprehended the protesters handed them to the police.
Upon their arrest, the protesters were however, reportedly handed over to thugs by the police who paraded them around Lokoja, the state capital, flogging and torturing them.

They were also reportedly arraigned in a magistrate’s court and subsequently jailed.

Ayuba Edeh, the state commissioner of police, had said the youths were arrested for "defacing public property.”
