Face of Niger Delta Cultural Pageant (FONDCUP) 2021 holds media conference in Lagos

The maiden edition of the Face of Niger Delta Cultural Pageant (FONDCUP) is set to bring out the natural beauty of the oil producing region of Nigeria.

At the media briefing held at Eagles Club, Surulere, Lagos on Friday, January 22, 2021, the organizers of the cultural pageant highlighted the importance of the event.

Apart from the organizers, the media parly had in attendance some of the judges, sponsors and celebrities.

The pageant will have contestants from the nine Niger Delta states of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo and Rivers.

The pageant is organized by Elizabeth Efe Era, the CEO LizGold Global International.

Speaking at the press briefing, Elizabeth Era said she chose the pageant to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Niger Delta people.

She said the pageant aim to change the wrong narrative that Niger Delta people are hostile. 

Elizabeth Era said she wants to show the world that Niger Deltans are happy and beautiful people.

She said the pageant will also show that Niger Delta maidens are beautiful and intelligent women.

She said the winner of the pageant who will be crowned Queen of Niger Delta, will also become the Face to showcase and work for unity and peace in the oli rich region.

Elizabeth Era said the crowned Queen will go home with N1 million and a brand new car. 

She will also become the Kindness Ambassador for the Niger Delta, running a project with the World Kindness Initiative, and signed to modeling agencies.

As the Face of Niger Delta, her job will be to preach love, kindness and show to Nigeria and the world that people are more than just fighting.

The first runner-up will also be rewarded with N1 million and be trained in any skill of her choice. She will also work with a telecommunication company and advert agency for a period of one year.

The second runner-up gets N500,000 and other juicy opportunities.

There will also be consolation prizes for the contestants and the nine finalists from the nine Niger Delta states will get at least N200,000 each.

The ladies who will be camped for a period of 22 days, from May 16, while the grand finale holds on June 5, 2021.

The maidens will go through different tasks and the winner of those tasks will be rewarded.

Elizabeth Era said that the Niger Delta young ladies who wish to participate will register with N5,000 and the audition will be done virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The activities in the house will be live streamed and their environment will be a cultural setting to showcase the different beautiful cultures of the Niger Delta region.

Stephen Onyemah, President, World Kindness Initiative, Nigerian chapter, who is one of the sponsors of the pageant also spoke at the event.

Onyemah said his association chose to partner with FONDCUP because of the laudable objective of the pageant to showcase the culture, act of kindness of the Niger Deltas, and reorient the mindset that the people of that region are violent.

Idris David Saibu, CEO House of Magic and the content producer said the unique thing about FONDCUP is that the pageant is all about embracing the peace, unity and culture of the Niger Delta region.

He said the maidens through different tasks will find out how much they know about the Niger Delta and how they can live together even while they're competing.

Kiki Omeili, a medical doctor, actress and producer who will be one of the judges, said the panel will be looking out for ladies who are smart, intelligent and with a sense of self, and someone who can foster kindness, promote values and morals.

Other personalities at the event include Michael Ucheegbu, a Nollywood actor who will host the pageant, Stephen Oke, secretary general, the World Kindness Movement

Also Larry Kay Ojomo, a fashion designer and CEO of Mon-Ami, Evelyn Okere, founder St. Eve Magazine and former vice presidential candidate, and Alexis Michael Igbokwe, entrepreneur and CEO of Koralx.

The event was anchored by Mathew Nwankwo, TV personality and compere.
