#EndSARS: SARS office burnt in Aba, Police station set ablaze in Ibadan

An office of the now disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has been burnt down in Aba, state.

Residents of the commercial city came out in mass to protest against police brutality and the current state of the Nigerian economy.

But according to eyewitnesses, trouble started when security operatives shot at the protesters.

The protesters reacted by burning down the station after overpowering security personnel.

The Zone 6 police station, previously occupied by SARS, is close to 7up Bottling Company in Waterside area of Aba.
Aggrieved persons in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, also set the Ojoo Police Station on fire.

A witness said that trouble started after the police attempted to disperse a crowd of protesters.

Suspected hoodlums in the crowd were said to have pelted them with stones after which the police reportedly opened fire.

The angry mob was said to have outnumbered the policemen who beat a retreat before the aggrieved persons broke into the station and set it on fire.

Many vehicles inside the station were also set ablaze.

A police station in Orile-Iganmu area of Lagos state was also set ablaze by hoodlums on Tuesday.

The incident occured amid the protests against police brutality.

Eyewitness said that policemen shot at the hoodlums before they set the police station ablaze.

The two persons shot by police have died, according to reports.
