'My husband has never abused me' - Fani-Kayode’s third wife defends him

Regina-Hanson Amonoo, the third wife of Femi Fani-Kayode, has dismissed claims in some quarters that she had parted ways with the former minister over domestic violence.

The ex-minister of aviation had made the headlines recently after his marriage of six years to Precious Chikwendu hit the rock.

Some reports had attributed the split between Fani-Kayode and his fourth wife to domestic violence.

Precious' sister, Prisca Chikwendu-Nduka had also said the politician constantly beats his wife even during her pregnancy.

But in a Facebook post, Regina, also known as Gina Hall, said she has never experienced any form of abuse since she tied the knot with him 23 years ago.

“Chief Femi Fani-Kayode is my husband. We got married under traditional law and custom in Accra, Ghana in 1997 and we got married under the Marriage Act at the Apapa Registry office in Lagos, Nigeria in 2002,” she wrote on Tuesday.

“We have a beautiful daughter called Oluwaremilekun and both she and I are very proud of him. He has been a wonderful father and caring husband and he has never subjected me to any form of domestic abuse or treated me badly.”

Regina described Fani-Kayode as a caring husband, who would go any length just to protect his loved ones.

“Anyone that knows Femi well knows that his greatest weakness are those he loves and he will do anything for them,” she added.

“He is a warm, kind, generous, gentle, intelligent and loving man who is not afraid of anything or anyone and who takes care of his own. From the very beginning of his relationship with Precious he told me about it and I accepted it in good faith.”

Regina also asked the public to disregard swelling rumours that she had divorced the former minister, adding that he still remains her husband.

"Reports in the media that we are divorced are fake and suggestions that I was treated in a bad way by him or subjected to any form of abuse at any time in the 23 years that we have been married are malicious and false."

Fani-Kayode has been married four times. He had tied the knot with Saratu Attah in 1987. The duo, however, split three years later.

In 1991, the ex-minister married Yemisi Adeniji but they were separated by 1995.

His third marriage was to Gina Hall in 1997 after which he tied the knot with Precious Chikwendu in 2014.
