Lagos Revenue Service asks Laycon to pay his tax after BBNaija win

The Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has asked Laycon, winner of the just concluded Big Brother Naija show to make sure he pays his tax.

The 26-year-old singer, real name Olamilekan Agbeleshe was declared the winner of the 2020 edition of the reality TV show on Sunday after earning the highest votes from fans.

The win means Laycon would be rewarded with the show's N85 million grand prize.

In a post on its Twitter page on Monday, LIRS commended the reality TV star over the achievement.

The revenue service, however, urged the graduate of philosophy from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to pay his tax.

The agency added that it looks forward to having the singer at the 2021 budget consultative forum — an initiative of the state government to address the dwindling revenue occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic.

“Congratulations @itsLaycon winner @BBNaija Lockdown edition. More wins!! We look forward to seeing you in Y2021 as you #payyourtax,” it wrote on Twitter.

The breakdown of the grand prize for BBNaija season five includes: “a N30m cash prize; a two-bedroom apartment courtesy Revolution Plus; a top of the range SUV from Nigerian automaker, Innoson Motors; a trip to Dublin courtesy Guinness; home appliances courtesy Scanfrost.”

Others are “a trip to Dubai packaged by Travelbeta; a year’s supply of Indomie noodles, Munch it and Colgate toothpaste; a year’s supply of Pepsi, a branded chiller and a trip to watch the UEFA Champions League finale; and a brand new Oppo mobile smartphone.”
