Seun Oloketuyi hits critics of Baba Ijebu over leaked Kashamu phone call

Few days ago, a video of Buruji Kashamu asking Adebutu Kessington, popularly known as Baba Ijebu for forgiveness on his sickbed surfaces on social media.

Kashamu, a former senator from Ogun state, had passed away after reportedly suffering complications of coronavirus at a Lagos hospital and commentaries have continued to pour in about his person.

But in the viral video, the late politician could be heard begging for forgiveness for wrongdoings from Kessington, who owns the popular Premier Lotto, with whom he had been at odds before his death.

In the over 6-minute telephone conversation between the duo, Baba Ijebu had accepted his plea, asking the embattled Kashamu to withdraw all lawsuits he filed against him and his lotto business to show he was serious.

But following the death of Kashamu, many had passed judgment on Baba Ijebu over the leaked phone conversation between him and the deceased.

Watch the video below:

Reacting to the controversy in a statement, founder of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, said he didn’t blame Baba Ijebu for recording the video because Kashumu is “a slippery person whose words couldn’t be his bond,” as known from many examples from business-politics.

“On the issue of the video being released, Baba couldn’t have released the video on social media since he doesn’t have a social media account,” the statement obtained by TheCable Lifestyle read.

“But I agree Baba and his wife should have been more careful with the video. He cannot, however, be held culpable for the misdemeanor of another.

“Those who have taken it upon themselves to hurl insults at an 83-year-old man without any information on the way Buruji battled him in the last three years, including a petition to EFCC and countless court cases to disrupt his business, should tell me what Baba should’ve done with the call.

“All Baba asked was if Buruji would withdraw the cases and stop fighting him. Was that too much to ask? And Baba said he has forgiven him as God is the only one who can forgive us all.

“Those pushing agendas and conspiracy theories should allow Buruji Kashamu to rest in peace.”
