Governors Umahi, Fayemi recover from coronavirus

Governors of Ebonyi and Ekiti states, David Umahi and Kayode Fayemi have recovered from the coronavirus disease.

In a statement issued on Friday, Umahi disclosed that his daughter and three of his aides who contracted the virus, have also tested negative.

On July 4, Umahi had announced that himself, his daughter, and three of his aides, tested positive for COVID-19.

While calling on the people to cooperate with government to contain the spread of the virus, he thanked them for their support.

In a tweet on Saturday, Fayemi said a subsequent COVID-19 test he took came back negative.

While thanking God, well wishers and his medical team for his recovery, the governor called for more efforts to tackle the pandemic.

On July 22, Fayemi, who is the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), announced that he had contracted the virus.

Umahi and Fayemi join a list of governors who have tested positive for the virus, including Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna.
