Frank Edoho: Nigerian youths are not passionate about serious issues

Popular TV host Frank Edoho says Nigerian youths are not passionate about discussing serious issues.

The former host of”Who wants to be a millionaire?” noted that the youths would rather discuss football, reality TV shows, better gadgets or which country has better jollof rice.

He claimed that when topics like increased taxation, the unavailability of jobs and the devaluation of Naira are mentioned, youths have no input.

”Nigerian youths are very passionate about Messi vs Ronaldo, Wizkid vs Davido, Laycon vs Kiddwaya, Nigerian Jollof vs Ghana, iPhone vs Samsung and Dodo vs Boli," Edoho wrote on Twitter.

”But when it’s time to talk about increased taxation, no jobs, devaluation of the naira – deafening silence. Una no ready (You all aren’t ready)”.

Edoho's comment is coming barely 24 hours after Nollywood actress Kemi Lala Akindoju urged Nigerian youths to pay attention to governance in the country the same way they follow Big Brother Naija reality TV show.

According to her, Nigeria will only make progress when citizens see the need to engage in socio-economic development of the nation

She also noted that the seeming apathy among youths for governance and electoral process poses danger to calls for good leadership in the country.
