FBI thanks Dubai Police for arresting, extraditing Hushpuppi, Woodberry to US

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has commended Dubai Police for arresting and extraditing Hushpuppi and his close associate, Woodberry, to the United States for allegedly defrauding almost two million people.

This was revealed in a statement by the Dubai Police on Thursday after sending the duo to the US state of Pennsylvania.

The Dubai Police had recently arrested Hushpuppi, real name Raymond Igbalode Abbas, and Woodberry, born Olalekan Jacob Ponle, along with ten other Africans over alleged cyber crimes.

The suspects were nabbed for allegedly committing crimes outside the UAE, including money-laundering, cyber fraud, hacking, criminal impersonating, scamming individuals, banking fraud and identity theft.

The Dubai police had said the raid resulted in confiscating incriminating documents of a planned fraud on a global scale worth $435 million.

The police also said it seized more than $40.9 million in cash, 13 luxury cars with an estimated value $6.8 million obtained from fraud crimes, and confiscated 21 computer devices, 47 smartphones, 15 memory sticks, five hard disks containing 119,580 fraud files as well as addresses of 1,926,400 victims.

Out of all the suspects arrested with Hushpuppi, Woodberry is perhaps another high profile person. He was known to be stupendously rich without a visible source of his wealth.

While Hushpuppi is known to flaunt his expensive acquisition online, Woodberry is less open with his wealth.

However, in March of 2019, he announced that he acquired a twin collection of 2019 edition of Lamborghini Urus at over $200,000 and the 2019 Rolls Royce black badge dawn.
