Twitter NG reacts as Funke Akindele's ex-staff accuse her of maltreatment

A young Nigerian writer, Cassandra Owolabi aka Khassie, has taken to social media to call out her former employer and Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele.

In a video, Khassie revealed that the popular actress used to physically and emotionally abuse her members of staff.

The young lady also revealed how the actress used to talk down on them and how she was never given credit for writing five seasons (season 11 to 15) of Funke Akindele’s popular comedy series, Jenifa’s Diaries.

She said that Akindele’s staff had to endure physical and emotional abuse as the film star had been known to use degrading words on them.

The writer said that working for the movie star was like enslavement because they were ripped of their fundamental human right such as not having freedom of movement, speech or expression.

Khassie recounted the moment she witnessed the film star slap a member of staff the way a mother would hit her child.

Speaking further, Khassie, said that they had to endure so much insults being her staff and how it was disheartening that a figure people look up to can treat others in a dehumanising manner.

She said that if the actress had been a white woman, people would have described her as a modern day slave master.

Khassie said that they were barely allowed to rest and that they had to keep writing at every waking moment. She also revealed that they were not allowed to watch TV or have any form of leisure.
