Stella Damasus celebrates daughter as she bag Columbia University scholarship

Nigerian actress and singer, Stella Damasus has taken to her social platform to celebrate her daughter, Angelica Aboderin, who recently bagged a scholarship to study at Columbia University after graduating as a valedictorian at a high school in the US.

The proud mum shared the good news with pictures of her daughter, while penning a congratulatory message to the young scholar.

“My beautiful daughter graduated high school today. I am such a proud mum right now. She didn’t only get a scholarship to @columbia she is also valedictorian of the class of 2020,” Damasus wrote.

In other posts, the actress wrote, "I celebrate my baby today.. she is begging me to stop posting. It's a bit too much mummy. My dear allow me. I didn't get to do this for years. I have a reason to flood my page"

Confirming her mother’s statement, Angelica took to her own handle to share photos of herself in a blue gown alongside her mum and other members of her family as Damasus held onto her plaque.

“It’s official! I’m a high school graduate. I’m so proud to be graduating with the class of 2020 as the valedictorian. It’s been a hell of a journey and I can’t wait to start the next chapter,” Angelica wrote.

Valedictorian is an academic title of success used in the United States for the student who delivers the closing statement at a graduation ceremony. The chosen valedictorian is traditionally the student with the highest ranking among their graduating class.
