"Shame on you" - Mocheddah calls out Dbanj for "bullying his rape accuser", says he deserves to be cancelled

Nigerian rapper, Modupe Olateru-Olagbegi, aka Mo'Cheddah, has lambasted singer Oladapo Oyebanjo aka D’Banj, for allegedly trying to intimidate his rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo.

Seyitan had recently released a statement where she revealed she filed a criminal complaint to the police over the alleged rape.

In her statement, Seyitan confirmed that she was indeed arrested last week following her allegations against D'banj.

She also alleged maltreatment by the police officers while at the cell, noting that she was “detained like a criminal” and denied her fundamental human rights.

The lady added that D’banj and his team had “coerced” her into deleting her earlier tweets where she made the allegation on Twitter.

Providing a timeline of events, Seyitan said the singer barged into her hotel room on December 30, 2018 and molested her sexually.

“D’banj gained access into my hotel room at past midnight while I was asleep. He violated and raped me,” the statement added.

Reacting to her Seyitan's statement, Mo'Cheddah said she has cancelled D'banj for allegedly bullying his accuser and manipulating the justice system.

The rapper also asked for D'banj to be stripped off his awards and endorsements, and called for the police officers to be dismissed.

Sharing Seyitan's statement, Mo'Cheddah wrote: "Shame on you, D'banj. Shame on you for being the bully you have shown us you are.

"Shame on you for silencing a young woman from speaking her truth. Shame on you for being an instrument to unlawful imprisonment.

"Shame on you for influencing the order to arrest a woman that has accused you of rape. Shame on you for making her sign under duress.

"You have shown.the world who you are, and that you truly stand for nothing.

"This story has gone beyond rape. You have manipulated the justice system to fit your selfish interest. You have broken the law on multiple counts, and you deserve to be CANCELLED .

"D'banj should be stripped of his endorsements, and his awards should be retracted to send a message to all bullies that believe they are above the law.

"The policemen that arrested seyitan unlawfully should all be exposed and relieved of their duty.

"The power of your influence puts the onus on you to act right, but regardless of your status, you are a man first.

"Many might say this case is about clout chasing, but takeout your bias towards your favorite and replace him with regular joe, wouldn’t you want the same Justice? Do the right thing.

Following the rape allegations levelled against D’Banj, an online petition was started calling on the United Nations to strip the musician of his Youth Ambassador for Peace title.

The petition on Change.org has been signed by over 22,000 people as of June 24, 2020.

However, on Wednesday, the UN came out to say the singer is not one of their ambassadors.
