NBA threatens to sue comedian Lasisi Elenu for 'misrepresenting lawyers' in his skit (VIDEO)

Comedian Nosa Afolabi, better known as Lasisi Elenu, may be dragged to court by the
Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for "ridiculing lawyers" in one of his skits.

Lasisi, who is known to post his comedy skits on social media, had taken to Twitter last week to share a video where he mimicked Nigerian lawyers.

He captioned the video, "Tag any The Law you know to tag any other the law.
And after his followers started tagging lawyers, the video got to NBA who threatened to take action against the comedian for misrepresenting the profession.

Habeeb Lawal, the Assistant National Publicity Secretary of the NBA, while reacting to the video on Monday said comedians must ensure to properly adorn lawyers attire if they must mimic members of profession.

Lawal wrote: "Dear Lasisi Elenu, We've been tagged! We beg to use you as a point of reference to all other comedians.

"Lawyers have awesome sense of humour, as such we enjoy your jokes & appreciate the creativity. However, if you must represent our profession in your works. kindly ensure you properly adorn the wig, bip & gown.

"We acknowledge your right of expression, but NOTE that we also reserve the rights to take all NECESSARY steps to guide against the ridicule of our noble profession and NBA shall not hesitate to exercise those rights.

Lawal added a video to guide Lasisi and other comedians on the proper way to represent lawyers in their skits.

"In the likely event that you need a guide on how to make a joke about lawyers without ridiculing our appearance, here is a good guide," he added.
