Burna Boy finally agrees to perform in South Africa, to donate proceeds to victims of xenophobia

Nigerian Afro-fusion singer, Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has finally agreed to perform in South Africa following recent xenophobic attacks.

The music superstar had vowed never to set foot in the country in the wake of the violent attacks on Nigerians and other Africans, unless the South African government government addresses the situation.

“I have not set foot in SA since 2017. And I will NOT EVER go to South Africa again for any reason until the SOUTH AFRICAN government wakes the f**k up and really performs A miracle because I don’t know how they can even possibly fix this,” he wrote.

But in a post on social media, the talented singer said that that he will be gracing the stage in Capetown on November 23.

According to him, the show, which is tagged ‘Africans Unite’, will be the first of many.

He also promises to donate parts of the proceed from the concert he is headlining to victims of the xenophobic attacks.

“The first of many! Part of the proceeds will be donated to the victims of Xenophobic attacks by me! I really hope we can all keep contributing in our own way to make the world a better and safer place for each other. # Africansunite, it’s bigger than all of us,” he wrote.

The upcoming concert, also featuring Jidenna, is being organized by Nigeria’s Play Network.

It would take place at The Lawns, Cape Town, on November 23, and Tshwane’s Sun Arena on November 24.
