WAGs at war: Rooney's wife and Vardy's wife in Twitter row over 'leaked stories'

Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy, wives of England's footballers, Wayne Rooney and Jamie Vardy, came for each other on Twitter over leaked stories on British Tabloids.

Coleen went on social media on Wednesday to accuse the wife of Rebekar of betraying her trust by selling details of her personal life to the press for years.

Mrs Rooney said she became suspicious when stories were getting published about her that only her select Instagram followers could know about.

She said she worked out it was Rebekah's account by blocking everyone else's account apart from hers.

Coleen wrote: "For a few years now someone who I trusted to follow me on my personal Instagram account has been consistently informing the sun newspaper of my private posts and stories.

"There has been so much information given to them about me, my friends and family - all without my permission or knowledge.

She explained: "To try and prove this, I came up with an idea. I blocked everyone from viewing my Instagram stories except one account (those on my private account must have been wondering why I haven’t had stories on there for a while.

"Over the past five months I have posted a series of false stories to see if they made their way into the Sun newspaper. And you know what, they did!

"Now I know for certain which account / individual it’s come from. I have saved and screens hotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person has viewed them.

"It’s......... Rebekah Vardy’s account."

Just minutes later, Rebekah fired off a response to the accusations on her own social media page.

In a statement, Rebekar accused other people of accessing her Instagram account and said she was "disgusted" by Coleen's allegations.

The pregnant I'm A Celebrity star said Coleen should have called her first before going public.

She denied ever speaking to any journalist about Rooney's wife despite being contacted to do so.

Coleen and Rebekah are said to have formed a friendship when their footballer husbands were both called up to the England squad at the same time.

They were spotted sat beside each other as they cheered on the national side at the Euros in 2016.

The war of words between the WAGs (Wives and Girlfriends of Athletes) have become a hot topic on social media since Wednesday morning.
