Busola Dakolo's lawyer says the N10m she demanded is for legal fees, not compensation

Pelumi Olajengbesi, lawyer to Busola Dakolo, has clarified the N10 million in her suit against pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.

A federal high court in Abuja has summoned the founder of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) following the rape allegations levelled against him by the celebrity photographer.

The court summon document dated September 6 asked the founder of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) to make an appearance within 14 days.
In the court papers, Busola had also demanded “a personal letter of apology” from Fatoyinbo to show honest remorse for his misdeeds. She also demanded 10 million naira the COZA pastor being the cost of her court case.

However, several comments on social media had attributed the cash to compensation for the alleged sexual assault.

However, Busola's lawywer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, in a statement explained that the N10m is for legal fees.

"Our Client, did not ever ask for any monetary damages and/or compensation against Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo in her reliefs," the statement reads.

"This is because our client reason for filing the civil suit against Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo among other things, is for the court to make pronouncements on her rights plus also Rev. Biodun liabilities and also, to help other victims of sexual, physical and emotional abuse gain the courage to confront their abusers no matter how highly placed they are."

"It is important to note that di N10 million naira that the media is quoting is the cost of the action from lawyers, namely litigation fee. "

Busola, wife to popular musician, Timi Dakolo, is accusing pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of raping her twice when she was a teenager, but the pastor has denied the allegation.
