Ikoyi Cash: Union Bank lays claim to Osborne Towers apartments

Union Bank of Nigeria Plc has challenged the permanent forfeiture of a property known as Flat 7b No 16, Osborne Road Ikoyi, Lagos to the Federal Government.

The property was the same one linked to the dismissed Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ayo Oke where the EFCC recovered the sums of $43,449,947.00, €27,800 and N23,218,000.00 on the 12th of April, 2017.

United States donates tactical equipment and vehicles to NDLEA

The United States government has donated seven vehicles and a variety of technical equipment to the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), as part of its continued support for the counter-narcotics agency. 

U.S. Consul General John Bray, who made the donation today at a brief ceremony in Lagos, emphasised the importance of law enforcement cooperation between the U.S. and Nigeria in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse in the country.

Six Italian Policemen arrested for taking bribes from migrants

Six Italian police officers who issued residency permits to migrants in return for bribes of several thousand Euros have been arrested.

According to the ANSA news agency, Four of the officers were jailed, two were placed under house arrest, and two “intermediaries” were also arrested.

House of Reps oppose Buratai’s new language policy in the Nigerian Army

The House of Representatives on Wednesday disapproved the new local language policy proposed by the Nigerian Army.

The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai had ordered all army personnel to be eloquent in the three major languages – Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba by December 2018.

The House urged Buratai to stop the implementation of the policy.

Libya Slave Trade: “It is a slap on the face of all of us” – Senate

The Senate on Wednesday urged the Federal Government to summon the Libyan ambassador to Nigeria over the slave auctions of Nigerians in Libya.

The upper chamber also condemned the act exhibited by the Libyans selling fellow Africans as slaves, describing it as depraved and animalistic.

This was sequel to a motion on “Urgent need to Protect Nigerian Citizens from the Libya Slavery Auctions“, sponsored by Baba Garbai (APC-Borno) during the plenary.

War Criminal drinks poison and dies in UN Courtroom in protest of his sentence (Watch)

Slobodan Praljak, a Brosnian Croat war criminal has died after drinking poison in the United Nations courtroom, Guardian reports.

The 72-year-old drank a phial of poison at a UN tribunal in The Hague just seconds after his 20-year sentence was upheld, shouting, “Praljak is not a criminal. I reject your verdict.”

He notified the judge and the courtroom of what he had done after raising the small bottle to his lips, saying “I just drank poison.”
