Fashola's ministry inserted N20 billion for miscellaneous expenditure - Senate

Last week,  Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Power, Works and Housing called out the National Assembly for cutting the budget meant for his ministry to carry out its duties.

In response, Abdulrazaq Namdas spokesman of the House of Representatives, on Thursday said Fashola should be bold and sincere enough to tell Nigerians why his ministry inserted N20 billion for miscellaneous expenditure while the second Niger Bridge had N12 billion estimate.

Man asks court to compel Senate to ascertain Buhari’s health status


A Nigerian Toyin Dawodu, has filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court, Abuja compelling the Senate to ascertain the health status of President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement released by Dawodu, he said he instructed his attorneys from Forthright Chambers and Lawyers for Citizens Advocacy of Nigeria to file a lawsuit compelling the Nigerian Senate to constitute a medical panel to determine if President Buhari is capable of discharging his constitutional duties.

Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese Ijebu has suspended one of its staff Dr. Oluseyi Adu, indefinitely, following a pregnancy scandal between him and one Mosunmola, a nursing student.

PUNCH reports that the suspension was posted on a notice board at the administration block of the college, where the academic community was asked not to have any dealings with him.

Four soldiers killed by IED explosion in Borno

An officer and three soldiers on patrol in Borno on Thursday have died after encountering a buried IED between Kangarwa and Alagarno village, the Army has confirmed.

Army Spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday.

He said three other soldiers sustained injuries , while stating that the vehicle was damaged.

A certificate forgery suit filed by one Uchenna Nnadi against Sen. Andy Uba was on Friday dismissed by an Abuja High Court.

Presiding judge, Valentine Ashi said the plaintiff refused to lead the court with further evidence.

Ashi said that the ‎plaintiff should have investigated and gotten his facts from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A court had awarded N4 billion to Saraki on Thursday in a lawsuit against SaharaReporters for series of libelous articles against him.

However, Sowore in his reaction to the court ruling, heaped more allegations on Saraki's head.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Thursday, chided the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), for allegedly ordering that the November 18, 2017 governorship election in Anambra be cancelled.

This is even as Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), said it would reject any restructuring of Nigeria carried out by the  administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying it would not reflect equity and fairness.

Former first family of the United States, wrapped up their vacation on Indonesia's resort island of Bali then headed to Yogyakarta where Barack Obama lived for several years as a child when his mother, Ann Dunham, moved there for her anthropological research.

 Before leaving Bali, Obama and his family were seen on a river rafting on Monday. Then on Wednesday, they were all spotted sightseeing in the historic city of Yogyakarta.

Barack, Michelle, Malia, and Sasha arrived on a private jet then drove to a luxury hotel in downtown Yogyakarta. They later went to visit the ninth-century Borobudur Temple in Magelang.

An Ilorin High Court in Kwara state had on Wednesday ordered Sahara Reporters and its publisher, Omoyele Sowore, to pay N4 billion in damages to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, over a series of libelous stories published by the medium in 2015.

Saraki had sued Sowore following the publication of series of libelous stories against him.

The family of an 11-year old female student of Lekki-British International School, Lagos is calling for a proper mental evaluation of her classmate, aged 12, who allegedly tried to poison her because she had beaten him to first position in previous terms.

Facebook user Abimbola shared a statement purportedly made by the female student’s aunt.

The boy had allegedly broken into the school’s laboratory, took sulphuric acid and ethanol, and poured into the girl’s water bottle. Fortunately, his classmates saw him and reported the matter.

According to various international reports, a 22-year old YouTuber was shot dead by his pregnant girlfriend after a planned stunt failed on Monday.

In a bid to get more views, the YouTuber had convinced his girlfriend to shoot him in the chest, with a thick book covering his chest, to see if the bullet could penetrate. The pair reportedly had tested the stunt out already

He was pronounced dead at the scene following the stunt.

Court sentences Ekiti principal to life imprisonment for raping 12-year-old student

Taiwo Ajayi, a secondary school principal has been handed a life sentence by an Ado-Ekiti high court for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.

Ajayi reportedly lured the girl into his office, locked the door and raped her on the table while covering her mouth with a cloth.

Oluwatoyin Abodunde, who gave the verdict, said the principal was guilty as charged.

Justice Adeyinka Oyinloye of the Ilorin High Court has ordered the publisher of SaharaReporters, Omoyele Sowore to pay N4 billion as damages to Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki.

The order was due to a series of libelous stories published by the medium in 2015.

Saraki had sued Sowore following the publication of series of libelous stories against him.

UK deports 28 Nigerians over immigration offences

The United Kingdom on Thursday deported 28 Nigerians over immigration-related offences.

This comes 48 hours after Spain deported 23 Nigerians  while 34 others were deported from Switzerland, Germany, Iceland, Austria, Belgium and Hungary.

The fresh batch of deportees reportedly arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 12.13 p.m.

Security operatives raid former Vice President Namadi Sambo’s house
