75-year old Pele, who now makes his money from endorsements, has taken tech giant Samsung to court for using his lookalike in an ad campaign.

The legendary footballer (real name Edson Arantes do Nascimento) and Samsung had been in talks since 2013 about an ad campaign, but according to a lawsuit filed by Pele’s lawyers this month, Samsung backed out at the last minute.

Kemmie Obaditan has waived her anonymity as she fights for justice after allegedly being harassed by a University of Abuja lecturer while she was a student of the school in 2011.

Kemmie who is now based in Washington DC has launched a campaign against her former lecturer via an online petition.

According to Kemi, here is what happened;
On the 11th of December 2011, I was in my second year in the University of Abuja, Gwagwalada Nigeria.
I came into school that morning to write a Chemistry examination scheduled to hold that day at 9am. I got into the exam hall at about 8:00am just in case there was going to be a change in the venue and information regarding this examination.

24 year old man arrested for allegedly defiling neighbour’s 3 year old daughter

A 24-year-old man, Saviour E*, has arrested and is currently being detained in Kirikiri prison by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defiling a 3-year-old girl.

The toddler was said to be his neighbour’s daughter. According to the prosecutor, the accused, who lives at Agege, Lagos, was said to have defiled the toddler on the 23rd of March.

Ivorian and Sunderland footballer, Emmanuel Eboue has been served a 1 year suspension from the game by FIFA.

The world football governing body who sanctioned the former Arsenal defender for not paying his agent his fees, has now placed a 1 year ban on Eboue.

Nevertheless, Eboue can return to the sport if he settles the fees during the course of the ban.

Power generation crumbled to 0MW for several hours before being 'restored'

Nigeria’s power generation collapsed completely on Thursday at exactly 12.58pm to zero megawatt and this persisted for about three hours.

Data from the country’s System Operator showed that around 1pm on Thursday, no power generation company in Nigeria produced a single megawatt of electricity.

Industry operators told Puncht that as a result of the complete collapse, no electricity distribution company received load allocation beginning from when the collapse was recorded up till around 3pm.

CCT Trial: Saraki Flies in US, Israeli Forensic Experts

In his determination to win his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) for alleged false declaration of assets, Senate President Bukola Saraki has flown in experts from the United States and Israel to team up with his legal team led by Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN).

However, it was learnt that the experts are not lawyers but crack investigators, forensic and handwriting specialists with the mandate to provide information on witnesses and documents presented at the tribunal by the prosecution, Thisday reports

The experts who were said to have arrived Lagos on Monday, would leave Lagos for Abuja to join Agabi’s team and commence work soon.

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria has uncovered an alleged plot by the Nigerian Army to attack members of the Shiites sect in Katsina.

The leader of the IMN, Ibraheem El Zakzaky has been in the custody of the Nigerian government since December 2015, after over 300 of their members were killed in an encounter with soldiers in the convoy of the Army Chief, in Zaria, Kaduna state.

According to the statement released by the sect’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Musa, the Nigerian government is planning to carry out another genocide against the Shiite group.

‘If Saraki is removed, PDP will produce the next Senate President’ - Report

Peoples Democratic Party members of the Nigerian Senate have began to put measures in place that will see the party produce the next Senate President if the present SP, Bukola Saraki is removed as a result of his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

According to Punch Newspapers, The PDP members met for several hours on Monday night to make further decisions on the issue.

Speaking on the development, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Peter Nwaboshi, said: “Should the incumbent, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, be forced to vacate the office, we have perfected necessary arrangements to take over the upper chamber.”

Ambode cancells ‘environmental sanitation’ in Lagos

 
The Ambode led administration has cancelled the compulsory environmental sanitation of the last Saturday of every month held between the hours of 7am to 10am in Lagos.

The Commissioner for Environment, Babatunde Adejare in the state made this known at the ministry’s monthly media chat in Lagos on Thursday.

Billionaire and Capital Oil boss,Chief Dr Ifeanyi Ubah has been slammed with a 10-game ban and N2.5m fine for slapping Nigerian midfielder, Ebele Obi who is a goalkeeper for Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL, side -Heartland FC.

According to a video circulating social media, the owner of the Ifeanyi Ubah Club was seen landing a slap on the Heartland goalkeeper after the latter punched a referee during an NPFL match between the two clubs.

Ifeanyi Ubah, proprietor of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, is suspended from all NPFL match venues for the next 10 matches,” said the League Management on Thursday.

John Kerry in a joint conference with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffery Onyeama, declared the United State government’s readiness to support the Buhari-led administration war against corruption.

Garba Shehu to PDP: ‘Apologise within 72 hours or face lawsuit’

The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu, has threatened to file a lawsuit against the Peoples Democratic Party for falsely accusing him of illegal trading in foreign exchange.

The presidential spokesman gave the PDP 72 hours to apologise and withdraw the false accusation or be dragged to court.

It would be recalled that the PDP, through their official Twitter handle, had accused Shehu of selling off $800,000 forex in the black market.

A protest is reportedly ongoing at the Bristow Helicopter office in Ikeja Lagos.

Pilots and engineers in the employ of the Helicopter services provider are reportedly protesting at the gate of the company asking for better welfare packages for the workers.

The pilots and engineers have accused the company of using their specialized expertise and paying peanuts in remunerations.

‘I’m being persecuted’ - Nnamdi Kanu writes British government

 
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has called on the British Government to lean on President Muhammadu Buhari to release him from prison.

Kanu alongside two other Biafra proponents, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, are facing treason charges.

The IPOB leader wrote a letter dated March 24 to the British High Commissioner in Abuja, through his lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor.

‘Chibok girls aren’t missing, it’s a political strategy’ – Fayose

Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, says the abduction of over 200 girls from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, is a ruse, which is at best, a political strategy.

Fayose, while speaking on Wednesday, said he doesn’t believe that the girls were abducted in 2014 while stressing that there’s been no indication to back up the abduction reports.

While declaring open a two-day workshop on “Political Aspirants Capacity Enhancement” organised by Women Arise for Change Initiative, Fayose said: “Today, many opposition leaders are underground.”

‘I have never slapped anyone in my life’ – El-Rufai

 
Following reports that he got into a physical altercation with his deputy, the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai said on Wednesday, that he has never slapped anyone in his life.

El-Rufai said Barnabas Bala had been his friend since 1976 and they didn’t exchange slaps as reported by several media platforms last weekend.

In an interactive session with journalists, El-Rufai said he has never had an argument with his deputy governor.

Buhari can withhold assent of 2016 budget but we have the power to veto – National Assembly

The lawmakers of the National Assembly have said Nigerians should not blame them for the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to delay in assenting the 2016 budget till he gets the details.

Abdulmumin Jibrin, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation released a statement on Wednesday, stressing that while the president has the power to withhold assent, the National Assembly also has the power to veto.

‘We can’t sleep in our homes’ – Ekiti lawmakers cry out as they flees to Ibadan

 
Eleven members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, who are loyalists of the state governor, Ayodele Fayose, have cried out that they cannot sleep in their homes again due to threats and intimidation from police officials.

The lawmakers, led by the Deputy Speaker, Segun Adewunmi, stated this while speaking with newsmen at the NUJ press centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan.

They alleged that some of them had fled from the state out of fear of being arrested by the police on trumped up charges.

Saraki donates N5 million to victims of Kano fire

In a show of good faith, Senate President Bukola Saraki has given N5 million to the victims of the fire which recently raged at Sabon Gari market in Kano state.

The donation was announced by Senator Kabiru Gaya, Chairman, Senate committee on Works when he paid a sympathy visit to Governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje on Wednesday, March 30.

Gaya, who is also the senator representing Kano South Senatorial District stated that the effects of the fire would no doubt be negative on the lives of the victims.

Kogi state House of Assembly sealed as leadership crisis deepens

The failure of the Kogi state House of Assembly to resolve its leadership crisis which has plagued it for 3 months now has led to the closure of the Assembly complex by security agents.

5 out of the 20 members of the Kogi state House of Assembly had earlier gone ahead to impeach the speaker causing the entire ruckus.

According to witnesses who visited the Assembly complex on Tuesday, March 29, the main entrance of the complex was barricaded by heavily armed security operatives who blocked members of the legislative arm to access the chambers and conduct the slated budget defence.

PDP trumps APC in Rivers rerun as INEC releases more results

Some of the results of the March 19 Rivers State and National Assembly rerun elections have been released by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

From the results signed by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Aniedi Ikoiwak, the Peoples Democratic Party roundly defeated the All Progressives Congress.

PDP candidate, Ken Chikere, got 18,904 votes in Port Harcourt I Federal Constituency to defeat Igo Aguma of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 6,035.

Black college girl confronts white college man for wearing dreads (Photos/video)

 
A video showing a black girl and her friend stopping a white man wearing dreadlocks has gone viral since it was shared online. The confrontation took place stairs by the bottom of the stairs of the school building. 

Both students have been identified as students of San Francisco State University. In the less than 1 minute clip a black girl was seen asking the white guy why he had dreads on his hair. She confronted him for 'appropriating her culture'.
The dreadlocked man in the video was identified by SF Weekly has identifie as Cory Goldstein.

In the video another male student, who is also black, defends the woman.
