"Like the locust, they destroy everything in their path. They are like leeches: they indulge in a parasitic mode of nutrition and they suck the blood of the carcass until their victim is left for dead. Like the Arab Janjaweed, they are only known for the most hideous of things. This includes terror, intimidation, theft, murder, rape, abduction, mutilation, the violation of the rights of others, the destruction of the land and crops of farmers and the destruction of property".
Then the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Chidi Odinkalu came to describe the article as a crime and a hate speech..

President Muhammadu Buhari has finally submitted a list of his ministerial nominees to the Senate, Bukola Saraki, the senate president, confirmed late Wednesday.

The list came hours after the Senate adjourned for the day, fueling concerns the president may default on the September deadline he imposed on himself.

The list was presented by the President's Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari and Ita Enang, Buhari’s adviser on Senate.

Election tribunal nullifies election of PDP senator from Taraba state, declares APC Candidate winner

The election tribunal sitting in Taraba state has nullified the election of PDP Senator Bashir Marafa representing Taraba Central Senatorial district.

In a ruling today, the tribunal ordered that APC candidate Yusuf A Yusuf be given the Certificate of Return as the lawful winner of the April 2015 election.

No ministerial list as Senate adjourns plenary session!

The promised ministerial list of President Muhammadu Buhari, never made its way to the upper chamber of the National Assembly as of the last day of the month of September.

Senate plenary has now been adjourned for the day.

Chairman of the Senate adhoc committee on publicity, Dino Melaye made this known to National assembly correspondence after the end of today's sitting.

Buhari’s full ministerial list wont be submitted to the Senate today

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to keep his promise and submit the ministerial list to the Senate today, September 30.

However, there is a little catch; the nation will not be getting all the names of members of Buhari’s cabinet, Punch reports.

The report says that the President will not be submitting the full list of his ministers to the Senate, just yet.

Nigeria now has 3rd highest death toll in Hajj stampede

Coming in on the heels of Iran and Egypt- Nigeria is the country with the third highest casualty rate in the tragic Hajj stampede in Mina, Saudi Arabia.

Before now, 54 casualties had been identified by the National Hajj Commission, but as of last count, that number jumped up ten places to 64.

National Hajj Commission spokesperson, Uba Mana, pointed out that about 244 Nigerian pilgrims were still missing.

Afenifere calls for ban on activities of Fulani herdsmen in Yoruba land following Falae's kidnap

Following the kidnap of former presidential candidate Olu Falae by suspected fulani herdsmen in Ondo state last week Monday, leaders of Pan Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, have called for a ban to be placed on the activities of Fulani herdsmen in Yoruba land.

The group also condemned the kidnapping of the 77 year old elder statesman. They made their position known after an emergency meeting in Akure, Ondo state yesterday September 28th. Speaking through its Spokesman, Yinka Odumakin, the group said;

Police advise (celebs) against posting personal acquisition on social media

I think this is a direct message to some celebs who like flashing their acquisition on Instagram.

A security expert and Lagos Police Command spokesperson, DSP Joseph Offor says showing off on social media is a security risk and would advice people to calm down on it.
"It's not advisable for anyone, whether you're a celebrity or not, to post your personal acquisitions on social media. Such a thing is very risky. And those doing that will only end up putting the police on their toes." He said

WTF! Referee pulls out a gun during football match in Brazil (Photos/ Video)

A Brazilian football referee Gabriel Murta  did something that most people have never seen before. He pulled a gun on the pitch during a dispute with players.

Murta, whose day job is apparently a police officer, was upset after being "kicked and slapped" by Amantes de Bola's players while the team's manager allegedly stormed on the pitch demanding a red card, according to the.

He ran to the changing rooms and returned to the pitch with his service gun and confronted the players. But thankfully, he didn't shoot as his colleagues restrained him.

 This is a photo of of Emmanuel Ojo, the blogger, who was arrested by the Ogun state police on order of Ogun state governor Ibikinule Amosun for allegedly publishing a Facebook post where he accused the wife of the governor, Olufunsho Amosun of laundering $300,000 in London.

Ojo did a story a while back, alleging that the wife of the Ogun State governor was quizzed in London for money laundering, a story the state government has described as false. Mrs Amosun also denied the allegations.

There were reports in some quarters that the Senate President is beginning to lose support from his fellow Senators, but that wasn't the case as atotal of 84 Senators which is more than two thirds of the number needed to impeach him passed a vote of confidence in him as the president of the upper chamber and  other principal officers.

Jim Carrey's ex-girlfriend Cathriona White, 28, has tragically committed suicide.

The Irish make-up artist was found dead at her Los Angeles, California home Monday night, after two friends went to check in on her at her $1.1million home. 

News of her death comes just five days after breaking up with the comedian for a second time. She penned a suicide note mentioning their recent split.

Olu Falae abduction saga: Police release statement on the ransom paid for his release


Earlier today, Chief Olu Falae, who was kidnapped on Monday September 21st by Fulani herdsmen and released on Thursday September 24th, said that a ransom was paid by his family members for his release.

In reaction to his statement, the Nigerian Police has released a statement condemning the payment of ransom by his family. The police says ransom payment encourages the crime of kidnapping.

Hajj stampede: Nigerian survivor says Saudi Arabia paramedics favoured white victims over Africans

 One of the survivors from the recent stampede in Saudi Arabia, an indigene of Osun State, resident in Warri, Delta State revealed that paramedics ignored African pilgrims and concentrated on rescuing white and Caucasian victims which resulted in a high casualty rate among Africans. 

He said he was stuck in the midst of dead bodies for more than two hours and there was no help from paramedics, who favoured whites over blacks.

Lagos bride-to-be sent to prison 1 week before wedding for slapping neighbour

A 33-year-old woman, Olawunmi (not pictured), was arrested and remanded in prison custody a week to her wedding for slapping her neigbour, Anthony.

According to PM News, she was arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Isolo for the alleged offence.

After the incident occurred, Anthonywent to Ijeshatedo police division and reported Olawunmi’s actions. She was subsequently arrested and taken to the station.
